Commentary! the Musical is a comedy/parody musical, made to mock things like Director's commentary or Producer's commentary in movies, including the commentary of Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog itself. Written by Joss Whedon, his brother Jed Whedon, and his, at the time, fiancee Maurissa Tancharoen.
In it, the cast and crew of Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog perform exaggerated versions of both themselves and their characters. After reviewing the circumstances that led to the creation of Doctor Horrible, the characters sing of the contrary and cheap Joss Whedon, the aspirations of the minor actors, the egos of Nathan Fillion and Neil Patrick Harris, and everyone's favorite iPhone game.
Commentary! the Musical was made for and included in the physical Dr. Horrible DVD, located in the Specials section. As there are no visuals, and it is an audio-only musical, clicking play will lead to the Commentary! soundtrack playing over the original Dr. Horrible movie.
